Eligibility and license

Natural-person owner; primary residence; private permission; hosted/vacation license number and renewal date.

Annual vacation ledger

Completed host-absent nights; reserved host-absent nights; remaining allowance; host-present stays kept separate.

Exemption file

Qualifying reason; evidence; approval date and authorized nights; never assume a pending application is approval.

Tax and safety

Channel tax statement; direct-booking OTR duties; safety checks; emergency contact; booking records.

Worked example and assumptions

Illustration: 90 − 38 completed − 27 reserved = 25 uncommitted vacation nights. A further 30-night reservation would exceed that budget by 5. $1,000 taxable lodging × 15.95% = $159.50 tax; $1,159.50 total under stated assumptions.

Sources and unresolved questions

Official citations, scope and effective dates are in the complete DC vacation-night budget guide. General information, not a permit or legal/tax determination. Record the source URL, access date, office reply and remaining condition for each decision.
