Does a 2 bedroom fit your CityFHEPS household?
With CityFHEPS, the maximum rent follows your household size, not the apartment you happen to like. On the city's 2026 rent schedule, a 2 bedroom is the size paired with a household of three or four people, and the maximum for it is $2,997 a month with all utilities included. If you would pay some utilities yourself, a utility allowance is subtracted and the approvable rent is lower.
The amount that controls is the one printed on your shopping letter. A household approved for a smaller size generally cannot be approved for a 2 bedroom at the 2 bedroom maximum, and unlike Section 8 you cannot make up a difference out of pocket.
