What each building guide covers
Rents and income ranges
The rent for each apartment size and the income range for each household size, from the building’s official listing or application record, with the date it was read. Where a building has not published its rents, the guide says so.
What a voucher covers
The local rule on using a voucher in an income-restricted building, quoted from the agency, and each rent compared with the local voucher limit and with HUD’s rent benchmark for the ZIP code.
How and when to apply
The steps, the deadline and the documents. You apply through the lottery, city portal, housing agency or property manager the guide names. VoucherMatch does not take applications for these buildings.

Questions about new affordable buildings
- What is an income-restricted apartment?
- An apartment that only households under a set income can rent, at a rent set by a city, state or federal program. Each guide gives the income range for every household size.
- Do I need a housing voucher to apply for these apartments?
- No. A voucher is not required: an income-restricted building has its own income rules. If you have a voucher, each guide compares the building’s rents with the voucher limits for that city.
- Where do the rents and income figures come from?
- From the building’s official listing or application record, city permit and planning records, and the housing agency’s own tables. Each guide links its sources and gives the date they were last checked.
- Does VoucherMatch take the application?
- No. You apply through the lottery, city portal, housing agency or property manager named in the guide. Each guide links to the official application.
- How do I know a building is still taking applications?
- Each guide states the deadline or application status as a dated fact from the official listing. Open the official page linked in the guide before you apply, because a status can change after the guide was written.
- How do I find new affordable buildings in my city?
- Use the state and city filters on this page, or open your state’s page. Each city page lists every building VoucherMatch has reported on there.
Figures come from each building's official listing and public records, dated in its guide. VoucherMatch is not a housing agency and does not take applications for these buildings. How these guides are reported.
