New affordable buildings by borough
Each borough page lists its buildings and compares their rents by apartment size.
Rents by apartment size in NYC
The lowest monthly rent each building's official listing gives for each apartment size, and the yearly household income the listing accepts. “Based on income” means the rent is set from the household's income, and a dash means the listing has no apartment of that size.

How NYC housing lotteries work
- Applying is free. You apply online through NYC Housing Connect, once per household.
- After the deadline, every application gets a random log number. Applying early does not move you up.
- Buildings contact applicants in log-number order. Hearing back usually takes 2 to 12 months.
Using a voucher in a lottery building
HPD says the minimum income listed for a lottery apartment does not apply to households with a rental voucher. The rent has to be within the limit your voucher sets for that apartment size. Each report compares the building's rents with the CityFHEPS and Section 8 limits.

Questions about new affordable housing in NYC
- Does it cost anything to apply to an NYC housing lottery?
- No. Applying through NYC Housing Connect is free. Nobody can sell you an application or a better place in line.
- Does applying early improve my chances?
- No. Every application received by the deadline gets a random log number after the lottery closes. An application sent on the first day is treated the same as one sent on the last day.
- How long does a housing lottery take?
- Usually 2 to 12 months from the deadline until you hear back. The building works through log numbers in order and asks the households it reaches for documents.
- Can I use CityFHEPS or Section 8 in a lottery apartment?
- Yes. HPD says the minimum income for an apartment does not apply to voucher holders. The rent still has to be within the limit your voucher sets for that apartment size.
- What does "applications not open yet" mean?
- The building has been announced, but NYC Housing Connect is not taking applications for it yet. The report covers the rents and income ranges published so far.
